GParted News Item 97

When using GParted with newer Linux kernels, such as 2.6.30, unpatched parted-1.9.0 fails to properly inform the kernel of changes to partition tables.

See Bug #601574 - ERROR: Current NTFS volume size is bigger than the device size!

The critical patch that must be applied to parted-1.9.0 is: Patch for 'commit to os' for linux

Patched versions of Parted can be found at the fedora site.

Instructions on how to apply the patches can be found at the following link:
How to apply fedora patches to parted-1.9.0

This problem has been fixed starting with GParted Live 0.4.8-6.

If you experience this problem, please post a request for help in the GParted forum.
